Just the Four of Us - A Family Photoshoot in Streatham
A newborn photoshoot with a toddler and baby is chaotic and it is also my dream. Add a dog to the mix and it’s even more fun. I honestly love it! Sessions are typically led by the toddler and they love getting a lot of attention during the session. And when the toddler needs a break it provides the perfect opportunity to focus on the baby portraits.
Being invited into this beautiful home in Streatham was such a dream. It was freezing cold outside but the winter sun filled this home with light and warmth. We started the session downstairs playing with a DIY cardboard pirate boat (and if you’ve been following me for a while, you will know that I love crafts and DIY) and playing some instruments, including the piano.
We then went upstairs to the bedroom, which was flooded with the most gorgeous light! We got out a book and played on the bed. Think of tickles, jumping, rolling… it was fun! About an hour into the session you can typically tell that toddlers need a bit of a break, that’s when I usually either ask one of the parents to go and get a drink with them, read a book, put on their favourite show - whatever it is that they (and you) need in that moment. This also gives us time to focus on just the newborn for a while. This is where we will get the detail shots, the cosy and calm baby cuddle photos.
This session really was a dream. When my clients are relaxed and just do what they would usually do and are open to some suggestions from me - this is where the magic happens!
